I decided it would be cool to interview my hubby, Brad, who is a muggle and ask him about what it’s like to live with someone like me. He was spending the day with me at the shop and figured it would be a fun way to connect with each other and let people see inside our lives a bit.
He’s 100% country boy and before I met him I’m sure he had no idea what a muggle, spirit guide, or chakra was. In our six years together he’s been well informed and enlightened! He puts up with me burning all sorts of incense, needing to schedule things around the moon phases and Sabbats, and my ever ending obsession with crystals. He has given me the courage to be the most authentic version of myself that I can be.
I first told him I’m a medium and he didn’t really have much of a reaction other than curiosity. At first, I don’t think he really took it seriously and maybe thought I just really wanted to be one. But as time went on and I read for him and let his loved ones connect with him, he was a believer. He supports me so much in the mediumship work that I do. He’s seen how it can heal and comfort people and for me, that feels amazing knowing he sees value in this weird path that I’ve been walking.
As for the witch thing, that subject was something I really was worried about. I was terrified of him finding out I had a different belief system than our peers. But the hiding and sneaking around with my beliefs felt wrong. In the true graceful word puke style that I’m famous for, I blurted it out. He didn’t run, or grab a crucifix, or even laugh at me. He was shocked, that was evident. But he wasn’t upset and he didn’t make me feel small for my beliefs. It was such an amazing day! So now I don’t have to hide things in my office or make up excuses for why I need to ‘meditate’ on certain days. That moment is something I will never forget. He gave me my freedom that day and I love him more for it.
Our lives are pretty normal outside of the job that I do; own a metaphysical shop and do mediumship readings. I get to meet all kinds of amazing people in the shop and I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the support of my amazing hubby. For the first time in my life, I am able to connect in person with people that have similar beliefs!
So, he may not be obsessed with Practical Magic, Harry Potter, or know what a hobbit is but he’s 100% my true love. Sorry not sorry for being so sappy there!
Question for you: Are you out of the broom closet? And do you have a muggle partner or do you share the same belief system?
